My camera’s dead.

well not the camera, but the battery is dead. And there is a guest in the room where the charger is… yep that’s you STAN!.  Because of you,  I can’t take a picture of the project that you were making fun of me for working on to meet my arbitrary personal imposed deadline.

teaser post

I have a running list of things that I would like to do. It is an expansive list. An overwhelming list. Some of the list doesn’t even involve sewing. I am trying to decide if I will venture into other non-textile projects… maybe I stated that this blog would venture into other crafty type things. I may have hit my head harder than I thought, because I can’t quite remember what I wrote a couple of weeks ago, and I am toooooo lazy to take the five seconds it would take to check. I may be re-iterating what was already said.

I am struggling with whether I should paint a picture, make another plushie, or make a paper something… you’ve seen em’ around… some of my design friends have made their own based on readymech’s paper doodads.

I have seen them all over the place, and as I have discovered in the mere two weeks that I have been blogging, I am all about being un-original and jumping on the proverbial band wagon — but n’er do I fall off. My aim again, is THURSDAY. So my faithful readers come back to see what paper crap or plushie rip off I have kree-8-ted.

And in life news— today i sat in a neurologist’s office and had a needle stuck into my leg muscles and proceeded to be shocked. This was my second trip, and this time the pain made me cry. I had to ask for a towel to bite down on. I do not recommend this procedure ever ever ever ever. Be happy your nerves are shot and go dunk em in some soothing hot scented water and pray you don’t pee.

unoriginal

Everything old is new again and everything new is old. Anyway, I don’t know what exactly gave me the idea of actually making something each week…. I dunno, maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are 52 weeks a year, and completing a project a week seems a little less overwhelming than 60 things in 60 seconds. I was curious to see if there were others out there who may have taken on a personal goal to make 52 things in 52 weeks, and sure as I have hair on my elbows and socks on my knees, there were people out there in the world tackling their own little 52 (Shout out to #54!) projects.

I stumbled upon this guy’s blog, Thomas Sullivan, who is pretty much doing the same thing, ain’t that inspiring??? I really like how he set up some rules for himself so I will link to those, instead of writing out my own. Probably the only difference is my projects will run Thursday-Thursday, just cuz there are no songs about Thursday.

Shall I tease my vast readership… HI MOM… this week’s project is a bit challenging for my novice shhkillls. It is coming along, but it is very challenging, and I hope to finish it by this Thursday. If I don’t, I will have something else “MADE” just in case. Will I make it by thursday? Will I disappoint only 2 weeks in to my personal challenge??? Stay tuned!

embarrassing

The last time I think I actually sewed anything was in second grade. I lived in England then, and they separated the girls from the boys in the afternoons. We sat around sewing and the boys got to play outside. The best way to make a girl resent the fine art of sewing, is to not allow her extra recess like the boys appeared to be getting. I seriously doubt there is any boy from second grade, sitting around all grown up, resenting the fact that he had to swing a cricket paddle instead of doing some needlework —even if he is sitting around with some holey pants.

This weekend I made some dolls from the Cute Dolls book. I don’t think I used the right material and they came out looking amateurish, so I am too embarrassed to post any pictures. But I have had an idea for a while that I wanted to try but never had the guts to try out. I made a prototype this weekend using a pattern from the book and making my own modifications with my little idea. But it didn’t exactly turn out how I had hoped. I am working on another one, with different material so we will see how it goes. Cross your fingers.

Most of my clothes have holes.

Jumpin’ on the bloggin wagon.

Do I have time to blog? Do I believe it is kind of self aggrandizing? Yes-no? Who knows the answers.Either way I have to do something with my time.

In November, I was run-over by a careless driver while riding my bicycle on my way to work. At the time I was an active person, gyming it 3-5 times a week, marathon training and running 35+ miles a week, and riding my bicycle a few times to work to cross train with visions of trying for a tri-atholon this year.Well that all came to a screeching halt. The injuries I sustained have prevented me from training and being as physical as I was accustomed to. I have been sitting in an emotional limbo of being unbelievably thankful to be alive, not be a vegetable, and for the most part, be able to walk and use my arms - to being angry, hurt and depressed over the loss of the hobbies I most love! Cue the violins… but who needs pity, right? Shall I get to the point?
