I wanted to see how easy it would be to make a geometric shape out of fabric, a flexible and forgiving medium. However, this week was not so forgiving. My poor little cube boy looks like he is leaning over. This was tougher than I thought.

My friend just got some irish chickens, so I made her a picture.
This weeks project was a gift for my sister’s boyfriend who just graduated with some degree about working with the earth. Geography or Geology or who knows what. He is always blabbing about rocks and stuff and gps systems. He supposedly has a picture of a saskqwatch. So here is a little topography doll to celebrate the graduation. The best thing is, is that I left him home when we visited this weekend for his grad bbq. So this guy will have to find his way back to the new graduate. Good thing he has a map on his belly!
I’ve been working on a little executioner and it is taking me longer than expected. So this sketch will have to count as week 15. Tonight I went to Cari’s art opening and caught up with some old friends. Sadly Cari wasn’t there, she must not have been happy with the labeless blank wine so she left a note saying she “ran to got some beer.” Check out her blog and all of Old Cari’s adventures. Sorry I missed you, Cari. The stuff was fo-fab. Here is my rendition of what went down… since you weren’t there…

This past weekend Tad and I traveled to Seattle to visit my good friend (best) Jessica. Her new found love was having a bar-b-que to celebrate his up-coming open heart surgery. It should be a real blast. His name is Tim, and this will be his second time having open heart surgery… LUCKY. Anyway, you can go read all about his progress, here.
This was my first time meeting him and he seemed nice enough. But I definitely wish him the best of luck, because being horizontal and having people feed you, and then having to start from square one to recover back to normal isn’t fun at all. So this week’s project was for Tim. He is getting an aorta replacement, and he can’t miss out on the aorta fairy. I hear their payouts are huge.
So I made a little aorta pillow. To keep safe for when the aorta fairy shows up, with some cash, or hopefully an aorta that works.

This was a depressing week. One of the interesting things about this commitment to 52 projects is that normally moods or life happenings will make you set things aside and make excuses. But with the 52 projects there are no excuses.
This little guy is from a pattern by Theresa Levy. I picked this pattern because mostly my own creations are just two pieces of fabric sewn together, where this pattern makes more of a 3-d shape. However, I used baby fleece which is a little bit unforgiving and doesn’t mold nicely when stuffed. I may give this pattern another try with different fabric.
This week I participated in my first plush swap. Since I opened a flickr account, I have discovered many interesting flickr groups. The needle flickr group put on a swap based on your favorite color. I sent in my color choice, and I received someone else’s color choice of sky blue. So this little guy was packaged up on Monday and sent to his new home in Tennessee. I hope he gets to visit here.

At work this week, we lost two very valuable players to the team. Josh and Sarah. One of the banes of their existence was the outlook email feature that allows anyone to add a nice little red exclamation point to outgoing emails to signify their importance. This feature was often abused and misused by all of us! Thereby rendering its intended purpose, completely useless.

The designers and some of the un-designers at work constructed survival kits for Josh and Sarah so they would be able to survive without us at their new jobs. I made these little red fellas to help them get the point across to their new co-workers.
